I recently made this card for my Mum’s birthday. Inspired by all the lovely flower pot card designs that I had seen on Pinterest, I decided to make by own version. My Mum enjoys gardening and flower arranging and so I knew that this card would be perfect for her.
The card was made with basic items that I already had in my craft stash. The flower pot base was assembled using coloured pearlescent and corrugated card. I also used pearlescent card for the flowers, traced the shape using a plastic template and then cut out by hand. I drew the leaves freehand on green card before cutting them out. I made the crochet flower centres using small scraps of yarn from my yarn stash.
I designed a simple Happy Birthday sign on my computer, which I printed, cut out and then attached to a cocktail stick so that I could arrange it to poke out from among the flowers. I used fussy cutting to create the lettering of the word Mum from another computer print out.
My lovely Mother-in Law celebrated her 90th birthday last month. As a special gift for her I planted a basket with primulas and daffodils and then added some simple decoration to personalize it.
I made a fancy bow using two different ribbons, a small crochet flower and a button and attached it to the handle at the side of the basket. I made the MUM bunting using letters printed on my inkjet printer, ribbon and embroidery thread to tie it to the handle of the basket.
I also printed her age, cut it out with a 2 inch circle craft punch and backed it with a paper rosette. This was then attached to a plastic straw and simply pushed into the soil at the rear of the arrangement.
As a finishing touch I couldn’t resist adding a couple of paper butterflies!

These cute pirate themed treat pouches are great for boys to hand out to their classmates on Valentine’s Day and they are so easy to make.
For each pouch you will need:-
One 8 x 8 inch sheet black card or scrapbook paper
Coordinating ribbon, twine or raffia
One 4 x 6 inch cellophane bag
You will also need the following basic craft supplies :- 2 inch circle craft punch, scissors and paper glue.

Use the black card or scrapbook paper to make a diaper fold pouch using this Diaper Fold Pouch Tutorial by Beate Johns. (I use pearlescent black card, but you could also use scrapbook paper.) Fill the cellophane bag with chocolate coins and tie a short length of ribbon around the top of the bag. Cut out a tag using the 2 inch circle craft punch. Attach the tag to the front flap of the pouch using glue, a glue dot or double sided tape. Then just slip the bag of coins into the pouch and you’re done!
