These cute little Halloween treat bags are simple to make using black felt. Felt is one of my favourite materials for crafting, as it is easy to cut and sew and best of all it doesn’t fray! Only basic sewing skills are required to make these felt bags and you don’t even need a sewing machine. I stitched these two little bags by hand, as I was just too lazy to get out my sewing machine and thread it up! If you want to make a large numbers of bags, however, then it would certainly be much quicker to use a sewing machine.
To make one 4.5 x 5.5 inch treat bag you will need:-
5.5 x 11 inch piece of black felt
Black sewing thread
0.5 yard orange ribbon or twine
Pinking shears (optional)
Sewing machine (optional)
1. Fold the piece of felt in half, with short sides together, and then stitch both side seams using a 0.5 inch seam allowance. Either sew with a sewing machine or by hand using a neat back stitch.
2. Trim the seam allowance to 0.125 inches and for a decorative finish trim the top of the bag using pinking shears.
3. Turn the bag inside out with the seams on the inside and fill with treats.
4. Secure the top of the bag using the length of ribbon or twine and tie in a bow or knot.
